Conference Theme:
Living in Harmony with Our Planet
We now realize the undeniable truth that we are not the center of our Earth. It is high time that we learn the various ecosystems comprising the planet and seek ways to live in harmony with them. We aim to explore ways to co-exist with the ecosystems of our planet for our children and adolescents, who will inhabit this planet longer than we will. The following are some themes we can discuss in depth, but broader themes are also welcome.
1. Stories of the environment in books for children and adolescents
(Fictions, non-fictions, picturebooks, graphic novels, and more)
• The bond between humans and non-human animals
• The healing power of nature, including forests and seas
• Reflection on anthropogenic environmental damage and envisioning a sustainable future
• The world as seen from the perspective of non-human animals, plants, and other living beings
• Stories that explore the dynamics of ecosystems
• Stories from history about coexistence between nature and humans
• Stories of preserving ecosystems where endangered species can coexist
• Stories of societies upholding animal rights and welfare
• Ways nature is described in books for children and adolescents
• Changes in environmental themes in books for children and adolescents over time
2. Environmental education and activities for children and adolescents
• Ways to protect Earth and life on Earth from the climate crisis
• Environmental education for children and adolescents
• Children- and adolescent-led environmental activities
• The role of digital media in environmental education and activities
• Efforts to enhance awareness on environment
• Environment-related themes in various cultures
• The influence of illustration in environment education
